Ordering Books Directly through Penguin Putnam

Please note, books are not supplied on consignment; they are sold to you at a 40% discount. Penguin Putnam, Inc. pays the cost of shipping your order, but you must pay the return postage for any unsold books. To order these books directly, please follow these directions:

All direct book orders must be placed through Vicki Congdon at order processing. The author appearance coordinator can not place or track your order.

  1. Organizations with a Penguin Putnam account: To place an order for Putnam or Philomel titles, call Vicki Congdon at (800) 847-5515 x370. These orders must be placed at least ten weeks in advance.

  2. Organizations without an account: To place an order for Putnam or Philomel titles, send a letter on your organization's letterhead or a purchase order to Vicki Congdon at: Penguin Putnam, Inc.

    Please indicate that the order is for an author appearance and the date the books are needed. Be sure to place your order at least ten weeks in advance.

  3. Please call Customer Service at 1 (800) 631-8571 to determine the availability of books before placing an order. Books are sometimes out of stock or out of print, and prices may change from previous quotes. We strongly recommend that you do not pre-sell titles before placing orders because of inventory fluctuations.

  4. If books have not arrived 10 working days before your need-by date, call Vicki Congdon. Be sure to have your purchase order or the date of your order available.

  5. Unsold books should be returned along with a packing slip indicating the organization's name and account number. Books not returned immediately after the author appearance must be paid for within the 30 day billing cycle. All books are returnable provided they are in good condition. Signed books are returnable provided they are not dated or personalized. If you return books via the U. S. Postal Service, please insure them so that you have a receipt.
