I saw the Gold, there, in a House,
The Porridge in a Bowl,
Three Chairs, two strong—though hard and soft,
But one-no longer whole.
The Bed that begged for resting on,
And nodding—closing Eyes.
And Bears returning—to the Bowls
Announcements of Surprise.
A Hunt that leads from Chair to Bed
And to the golden Hair.
A Growl—a Blink—a Leap—and then
The Gold's no longer there.
