A diller, a dollar,
A ten o'clock scholar,
What makes you come so soon?
You used to come at ten o'clock,
And now you come at noon.
A famous old woman was Madam McBight,
She slept all the day, she slept all the night,
One hour was given to victuals and drink,
And only a minute was taken to think.
Awake, arise, pull out your eyes,
And hear what time of day;
And when you have done, pull out your tongue,
And see what you can say.
Be always on time,
Too late is a crime.
Bell horses, bell horses,
What time o' day?
One a clock, two a clock,
Time to away.
Elsie Marley has grown so fine,
She won't get up to serve the swine,
But lies in bed till eight or nine,
And surely she does take her time.
Girls and Boys,
Come out to play,
The Moon does shine,
As bright as Day,
Come with a Hoop,
Come with a Call,
Come with a good will,
Or not at all.
Loose your supper,
And loose your Sleep,
Come to your Play fellows
In the Street,
Up the Ladder
And down the Wall,
A halfpenny Loaf
Will serve us all.
You find milk
And I'll find flour,
And we'll have a pudding
In half an hour.
Hickory, Dickory Dock,
A mouse ran up the clock.
The clock struck one,
The mouse fell down.
Hickory, Dickory Dock.
Hours of sun on Christmas Day
So many frosts in the month of May.
Make a rhyme, make a rhyme,
See your beau before bedtime.
Rain, rain, come down and pour,
Then you'll only last an hour.
Robin and Richard
Were two pretty men,
They lay in bed
Till the clock struck ten:
Then up starts Robin and looks at the sky,
Oh! Brother Richard, the sun's very high;
You go before with the bottle and bag,
And I will come after on little Jack Nag.
Sally go round the sun,
Sally go round the moon,
Sally go round the chimney-pots
On a Saturday afternoon.
Sneel, snaul,
Robbers are coming to pull down your wall;
Sneel, snaul,
Put out your horn,
Robbers are coming to steal your corn,
Coming at four o'clock in the morn.
Wee Willie Winkie runs through the town,
Upstairs and downstairs in his nightgown,
Rapping at the window, crying through the lock,
Are the children all in bed, for now it's eight o'clock.
