Summary:

Upon realizing that she has stayed at her friend's house longer than she should have, Sarah decides to sneak home rather than call her father and finds herself in a night filled with hairy, scary animals.

Blurb:

A spider is scary enough, but when you start running into bears and lions on your street, you'd better be ready to run! Sarah's walk home is perfectly safe, but her imagination is going full tilt and everything she passes seems like a creepy-crawly bug or a sinister wild animal.

Will she make it home before the hairiest, scariest surprise of all?!

As witty verse and hilarious illustrations send Sarah racing from fright to fright, kids will be trembling and laughing the whole way.

Dedication:

To Sarah, from her very hairy scary dad.

Author Bio:

Rick Walton is the author of dozens of books for children, including Cars at Play , which he wrote with his wife, Ann, and The Bear Came Over to My House . His writing has been called "rollicking" by Booklist and "bouncy and exuberant" by School Library Journal . He and Ann live with their five kids in Provo, Utah.

Rick's Notes:

The title came to me first. I thought it was catchy. But then, what would the story be about? It had be me scary, of course. And the scary thing would be hairy. And then I knew what to write about.

I still get nervous, walking home, alone, in the dark, passing shadows hiding who knows what.

Sarah is my daughter's name, of course. Her best friend, Ann, is named after my wife.
